Academy Games

Rangers Academy teams participate in the CAYSA Academy League along with Academy teams from local area clubs and recreational associations.

Academy teams play 10-12 league games per season and are generally scheduled to play  one or two games per weekend.  New US Youth Soccer guidelines for the Academy allow for flexible game day rosters , so players have the ability/potential to play multiple games over a given weekend.

Academy games for the U9 and U10 age groups (7v7 format) consist of 2 x 25 minute halves with a 10 minute halftime break.  U7 /U8 games (4v4 format) consist of 3 x 15 minute periods with 5 minute breaks between periods.

Academy games provide players the opportunity to take the technical skills and tactical concepts introduced in training sessions into  the setting and pressure circumstances of a real game.  Academy games provide coaches with the opportunity to see their players' technical skills, tactical awareness and decision-making abilities under pressure.  As player development is the focus of Academy soccer, game scores are recorded for league evaluation purposes, but game results are not posted and league standings are not recorded or maintained, per US Youth Soccer guidelines.

Ranger Academy home games are currently played at St. Louis Catholic Church.   Away games are played at opponents' home fields and can include travel in and around the Greater Austin area (including Round Rock, Pflugerville, Kyle and Buda) as well as longer travel to Elgin, Manor, Liberty Hill,  Bastrop, Dripping Springs, San Marcos, and Temple.

Academy teams participate in CAYSA Academy festivals at the start and conclusion of the Academy seasons in the fall and spring. Festivals are amazing one-day events where Academy teams converge on a field complex, usually at the CAYSA Fields in Manor, each team plays 2 games, and the players, coaches and parents enjoy a full day of Academy soccer fun and excitement.

Academy teams may also have the opportunity to enter end of season Academy level tournaments that are generally played in the Greater Austin area.
