River City Rangers Returns to Seasonal Year Age Groups

Beginning with the 2026–2027 season (effective August 1, 2026), River City Rangers will transition from birth-year registration to seasonal-year age groupings. This change aligns with national organizations like US Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, and AYSO, all moving back to an August 1 – July 31 registration cycle.

What This Means for Players

This update is designed to better align players with their school-grade peers, helping strengthen team chemistry and social connections.

  • New Age Window: August 1 – July 31 (instead of January – December)
  • Roster Structure: Teams will now include players from two birth years
  • “Trapped Player” Fix: Fall-born 8th graders can remain with their classmates instead of moving up early

“Playing Up” Still Available

Players will continue to have the opportunity to play up when it supports their development. Our coaching staff remains committed to placing each athlete in the best environment for growth.
